Not feeling 100%? Not sure where to go for help? Don’t worry, Health Spot is here to help.

Spotlight has worked with the Tower Hamlet’s GP Care Group and other partners, including Docklands Outreach, Safe East and Queen Mary University Clinical Effectiveness Group to provide you with a new GP service.

Health Spot is specifically dedicated to the well-being of young people and is open to you in the safe space of Spotlight. Health Spot offers friendly, confidential medical appointments with a doctor who is experienced in supporting young people with health needs.

No problem is too big or too small: Health Spot is here for your physical and emotional needs. We want you to get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.

Heads up, if you think you have coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, follow government protocol and call 119 or get advice from NHS 111 Online. Find out more information here and stay safe, stay home and be kind!

What issues can I refer myself to Health Spot for?

Health Spot is here to deal with your unmet health needs. These can be related to any part of your physical and mental well-being, including mental health, sexual health, drug or alcohol misuse or anything else that might be worrying you. We work with other local services such as Docklands Outreach and Safe East and alongside our own youth work offerings to make sure you receive the best support possible.

Who are the appointments for – do I already have to be a member of Spotlight?

Everyone aged 11-19 is welcome, and up to 25 if you have any SEND or any additional needs. You do not need to already be a member of Spotlight to book an appointment.

When are the appointments?

Every Tuesday between 4pm-8pm at Spotlight (Langdon Park)

Every Thursday 4pm-7pm at Spotlight (Eastside)

How do appointments work?

Appointments are with a doctor. You can also request to have a trusted youth worker present if that makes you more comfortable! You will be able to safely access confidential advice, receive prescriptions and more.

Appointments are available in-person or remotely, depending on what you prefer.

How long is an appointment?

Each consultation is 30 minutes, but can be longer if needed

How do I book an appointment?

If you would like to book a slot please contact Treaser by email at treaser@wearespotlight.com or over the phone on 07734 346 127. You will need to provide your name and a contact number. Bookings are open throughout the week and are given out on a first come first service basis.

Can I request a male or female doctor?

Health Spot has both a male and a female doctor, so if you would like to be seen by a doctor of the same gender please ask when booking your appointment.

Are my Health Spot appointments confidential?

Yes, you are entitled to confidential care, at any age. Keeping something confidential means not telling anyone, including your parents or school, the things you’ve told us or even that you have booked an appointment.

In the NHS children and young people are allowed to make their own decisions about their health care as long as they have “capacity – in other words, if you can fully understand the information being shared with you by the health care professional.

This means you can trust us to keep it private unless we are really worried about you or someone else’s safety. Then we may need to talk to other professionals who will help to keep you or other people safe. We will always try to discuss this with you first.

We would only need to say or do something if:

  • You ask us to
  • We believe your life, or someone else’s, is in danger
  •  You’re being hurt by someone in a position of trust who is able to hurt other children, like a teacher, religious leader, sports coach, police officer, doctor
  • You tell us that you’re seriously hurting another person
  • You tell us about another child who’s being hurt and is not able to tell someone or understand what is happening to them
  • We’re told we have to by law, for example a court case
